Located in Taipei, Snow Capped is a three-storey building that underwent a year-long transformation to strengthen its structure and reconstruct its interior. The design team took on the challenge of facelifting the external look of the old building while preserving its original brick wall, creating a harmonious blend of old and new.
The exterior and interior design of Snow Capped exudes a simple and elegant style. The rational approach to planning highlights the contrast between the clean contours and the interplay of light and shadow, creating a visually captivating experience. Glass ball and light designs on the ceiling add layers and visual effects, while natural stone surfaces with indirect lighting and titanium materials enhance the counter space.
One of the standout features of Snow Capped is the use of white shades throughout the space. On the first floor, the white shades extend to the corridor on the second floor, creating a warm and comfortable ambiance. On the third floor, the original brick wall is preserved and decorated with white paint and green plants, bringing a natural atmosphere and showcasing the integration of old and new art textures.
The design challenges were overcome by removing partitions and replacing them with curtains and glass materials. This innovative approach enhances the multiple extensions between fields, allowing each area to function as an individual space or a multiply-connected space. The reconstructed building now serves as a reminder of the importance of living in the present moment.
Snow Capped spans across 435 square meters and was completed in April 2019. Its design is a result of meticulous research and a commitment to staying at the forefront of fashion trends. The use of white as the main color shade in the Beauty Consultation Area creates a spacious and beautiful representation, reminiscent of overlapping mountains and snow-covered peaks.
The Snow Capped design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase technical and creative skills, contribute to quality of life improvements, and make the world a better place.
Joy Chou's Snow Capped design is a testament to the power of transformation and the seamless integration of past and present. With its modern and luxurious aesthetic, it sets a new standard in commercial space design.
